The wine Finca la Emperatriz Reserva is a Spanish red wine made from old, over 60-year-old vines by the Finca La Emperatriz winery.
The vines have extremely low yields of less than 1.5 kg per plant.
This reserve red wine from La Rioja is made from a blend of 94% Tempranillo, 3% Grenache, 2% Viura and 1% Graciano, a traditional blend that produces spectacular results.
Harvested by hand in mid-October, once in the cellar the grapes were cold-soaked for two days before undergoing alcoholic fermentation.
After the completion of both processes, the wine was transferred into 60% American oak and 40% French oak barrels, where it was aged for 23 months.
Finally, Finca la Emperatriz Reserva 2012 was aged for a further 22 months in the cellar prior to its release.
